Glenn Landis ObituaryGlenn R. Landis, 92, died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday (July 22, 2004) at BroMenn Regional Medical ' Center, Normal. His graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Green Pond Cemetery, Pearl, the Rev. Jerry Edison officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Green Pond Cemetery, Pearl. He was born March 22, 1912, in Normal, a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Louise Schroeder Landes. He married Bona V. Newnom on March 31, 1946, in Bloomington. She died Oct. 30, 1997. Surviving are one son, Thad R. Landis, Bloomington; and two sisters, Millie Schulz, . Zephyrhills, Fla.; and Edna Goff, Colfax. His parents; three brothers, Jerry, Edward and Lester Landes; and three sisters, Martha Benson, Florence Johnston and . Lillian Michael, preceded him in death. , He was a 56-year member of Wade Barney Lodge 512 A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Bloomington Scottish Rite Bodies. Mr. Landis was a U.S. Navy, veteran. He served in China before World War II, served in World War II and the Korean War, serving 30 years active and reserve duty. He retired as a Chief Boatswain Mate. He also had worked from 1956 to 1976 as head of maintenance for the Peoples Bank of Bloomington.
