USS Canopus and the S-class submarines she tended were all built in the early 1920. During the period between the wars, Canopus and her brood of boats made several trips to China, and showed the flag along the coasts of Asia.

This is a list of the Canopus and some of her boats:

AS-9USS Canopus (AS-9) was built by New York Shipbuilding of Camden, New Jersey and was commissioned 24 January 1922. She aided the fight against the Japanese until the fall of Corrigigor and was scuttled by her own crew on 10 April 1942 in Mariveles Bay, Bataan, to deny her use to the enemy. Canopus was awarded Combat Action Ribbon, Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal with "FLEET" clasp, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one battle star, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and Philippine Defense Medal.

S-32USS S-32 (SS-137) was built by Union Iron Works of San Francisco and commissioned 15 June 1922. She made 7 War Patrols and was awarded American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with five battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal. USS S-32 was decommissioned at Mare Island in October 1945 and was sold for scrap.

S-36USS S-36 (SS-141) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of San Francisco and commissioned 4 April 1923. On 20 January 1942 during her first war patrol, she ran aground at Taka Bakang Reef and was scuttled. USS S-36 was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one battle star, and World War II Victory Medal.

S-37USS S-37 (SS-142) was built by Union Iron Works of San Francisco and was commissioned 16 July 1923. She sank IJN Natsushio and was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with five battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal. USS S-37 was decommissioned in San Diego in February 1945 and sank while under tow.

S-38USS S-38 (SS-143) was was built by Union Iron Works of San Francisco and commissioned 11 May 1923. She was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal. USS S-38 was decommissioned in San Diego in December 1944, and was sunk as a bombing target.

S-39USS S-39 (SS-144) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of San Francisco and commissioned 14 September 1923. She made 5 War Patrols before running aground and being abandoned in the Solomon Sea on 13 August 1942. USS S-39 was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal with "FLEET" Clasp, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and Philippine Defense Medal with star.

S-40USS S-40 (SS-145) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of San Francisco and commissioned on 20 Nov 1923. She made 9 War Patrols and was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one battle star, and World War II Victory Medal. She was decommissioned in San Francisco in Oct 1945 and was sold for scrap.

S-41USS S-41 (SS-146) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation of San Francisco and commissioned on 15 January 1924. She made 8 War Patrols and was awarded Yangtze Service Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal. USS S-41 was decommissioned in San Diego in February 1945 and was sold as scrap.
